Private Enterprise Number

The Private Enterprise Number officially assigned to Technische Universität München by the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) is:

It defines the top of an enterprise tree for local Object-IDs (e.g., in LDAP and X.500 directories) as well as a scope of enterprise-specific IPFIX Information Elements among others.

Enterprise-specific IPFIX Information Elements

The IPFIX protocol [RFC5101] enables the export of monitoring information from an IPFIX Exporter to an IPFIX Collector.

Data types and semantic of the exported information are specified by IPFIX Information Elements. Each Information Element is identified by a unique identifier in the range of 0 to 32767. IANA maintains a registry for Information Elements which have been standardized by the IETF.

Additional enterprise-specific Information Elements can be defined using an IANA assigned Private Enterprise Number. The corresponding identifiers need to be locally unique.
